ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. Methodist University women's tennis saw its 2024 season come to an end on Friday, in the semifinals of the 2024 USA South Women's Tennis Tournament, as the Knights of Southern Virginia University defeated the Monarchs 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist found itself down 0-3 following doubles play. Monarch veterans Toni Laney and Veva Willocks lost 2-8, at the No. 1 spot. Losing 2-8 as well was the freshman duo of Caitlin Tihanovich Katie Sechrist on court three, while the other rookie tandem of Emma Hulick and Annabelle Subirats, No. 2 doubles, fell 4-8.
- In her final collegiate match, Laney fought valiantly against her singles opponent on the first court but lost 0-6, 3-6.
- Hulicki picked up the only victory for Methodist as she won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2 singles.
- Southern Virginia clinched the match after Monarchs own Sechrist lost No. 6 singles by a pair of 2-6 set scores.
