BREVARD, N.C. Taking on a tough group of Tornados, the Methodist baseball team was able to split with Brevard on Saturday, dropping game one 8-3 before completing a comeback to win game two 15-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Caleb Greene got the Monarchs on the board first in the top of the second inning, batting in Brandon Mauger for a 1-0 Methodist lead. In the top of the fourth, Tristen Melvin singled into center field, scoring Mauger and Banks Engle to give the Monarchs a 3-0 lead.
- The Tornados produced a five-run frame in the bottom of the fourth to capture the lead, then scored three more runs to Methodist's none, giving Brevard an 8-5 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Brevard scored twice in the first inning, twice in the second and twice in the fifth to take a 6-0 advantage. In the top of the sixth, the Monarchs got two back as Caleb Rogers scored on a wild pitch and Melvin doubled to send Greene home.
- In the seventh inning, Rogers singled to score catcher Hunter Hollman. Then in the eighth, Jackson Kuhn, Austin Rinzel and Jackson Deal all recorded RBIs as Methodist took a 7-6 lead.
- Methodist closer Chase Carroll loaded the bases in the top of the ninth with no outs, but held on to collect three straight outs without the tying run scoring.
