ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. The Methodist women's soccer team wrapped up its regular season on Tuesday afternoon at North Carolina Wesleyan University. The Monarchs came out strong, striking first on an early goal, but the Battling Bishops answered with two goals to secure a 2–1 win on Scalf Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist took a 1–0 lead in the 16th minute when junior Haley Cousins netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season. After an initial shot off a corner kick was saved, Cousins capitalized on the rebound to put the Monarchs in front.
- The Battling Bishops evened the score in the 33rd minute, as Samantha Dell chipped in a cross from Mckayla Farrow into the top right corner.
- The score held through halftime until the 79th minute, when Eden Whiteside scored what proved to be the game-winner for the Bishops. Dell once again helped create the scoring chance, threading a pass to Whiteside inside the box for the decisive goal.
NUMBERS
- Methodist outshot N.C. Wesleyan 9–3, including a 4–2 edge in shots on goal.
- The Monarchs also controlled the pace of play, earning five corner kicks to the Bishops' three.
- Cousins led the offense with three shots (two on goal), while junior Emily Hoyt added two shots, one on target.
- The loss snapped a 23-match win streak for Methodist over N.C. Wesleyan, which dates back to 2003.
