BRIDGEWATER, Va. On the final day of the Carlyle Whitelow Classic, the Methodist men's basketball team took on host Bridgewater College Sunday afternoon inside Nininger Hall. Despite trailing by just three at the half, the Monarchs struggled offensively in the second period and fell 66–51 to the Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist started strong, jumping out to a 5–0 lead behind a Dontavious Pettaway layup and a KJ Brooks three-pointer. The Monarchs continued their early momentum with an 8–5 stretch to go up 13–5, prompting a Bridgewater timeout.
- The Eagles responded immediately, using a 7–1 run over the next three minutes to pull within 14–12. Bridgewater later tied the game at 16–16, but Brooks and Tomas Stevens combined to fuel a 6–1 Methodist run, reclaiming a 22–17 advantage. However, the final minutes of the first half swung in Bridgewater's favor, as a 12–4 surge sent the Monarchs into the break trailing 29–26.
- Coming out of halftime, Methodist went cold, missing its first seven shots while Bridgewater rattled off 16 straight points to build a 42–26 lead. Brooks and Tre' Williams each converted layups to finally break through, but the Eagles answered with three consecutive baskets to maintain control.
- In the final 10 minutes, Methodist mounted separate 7–0 and 8–0 runs to chip away at the deficit, but each time Bridgewater countered to keep the Monarchs at bay and secure the double-digit victory.
