Methodist Goes on the Road and Blanks Meredith

RALEIGH, N.C.  The Methodist University's women's tennis team delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Meredith College 7–0 in a resounding USA South victory at the Meredith Tennis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs set the tone early in doubles play, taking all three matches with decisive wins. The duo of Emma Hulicki and Annabelle Subirats outlasted Meredith's Ellie Osborne and Claire Southern in a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2, Caitlin Tihanovich and Katie Sechrist dominated their matchup, securing a 6-1 win over Hannah Jo Jablonski and Cate Reilly. Methodist completed the doubles sweep at No. 3, with Veva Willocks and Wilette Rivera Morales blanking Kate Jackson and Anna Bitler 6-0.
  • Riding their momentum from doubles, the Monarchs continued their excellence into singles action. At No. 5, Willocks left no doubt as she shut out Bitler 6-0, 6-0, and then Madelyn Parker triumph over Jackson 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 6 court. Sechrist delivered another strong showing at No. 4, defeating Jablonski 6-1, 6-3.
  • Tihanovich kept the Monarchs rolling with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles against Reilly, while Subirats followed with a stellar performance at No. 2, cruising to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Southern. Rounding out the flawless singles slate, Hulicki battled past Osborne in a competitive 7-5, 6-2 contest at No. 1 singles.

Methodist has the next ten days off before traveling to Southern Virginia University on Saturday, April 5, for another USA South contest. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 AM.
