FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Eavenson is pleased to announce seven new inductees into the Methodist University Athletics Hall of Fame. The Class of 2025 is comprised of Dan Glies '03, Rickey Hill '90 (posthumously), Jennifer Maurer '96, Jim Percherke '90, Stacey Smith '00, Randal Webster '97, and Triba Williams '00.
Glies was a four-year contributor to the Methodist baseball team from 2000 to 03. During his time here, he was named to the DIAC All-Conference team all four years, earning first-team honors in 2000, 2001, and 2002, and a second-team spot in 2003. He was also named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2000 and Player of the Year in 2002. Glies helped guide the Monarchs to two regular-season conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 2001 and 2002. In the same year he was named POY, the American Baseball Coaches Association named him a Second Team All-American. Additionally, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association recognized him as the Division III South Region Player of the Year. In the record books, his 243 career hits rank fourth in program history, and he also holds the third-best single-season batting average at .439.
Hill was a four-year member of Methodist's cheer squad during the late 80s (1986-90). In 1988, Hill choreographed a routine that the team performed at the National Cheerleading Association Championship, earning the Monarchs a fourth-place finish. Hill later returned to Methodist to become the head cheer and dance coach from 1999 to 2004. Even though Hill is being inducted as an individual, he and the rest of the 1987-88 Cheerleading team were inducted as a Team of Distinction back in 2018. That team was the first MU squad to qualify for the NCA Championships, and was the highest-ranked D-III team in the country.
Maurer was a standout keeper for the Methodist women's soccer team for four years, from 1993 to 1996. She earned DIAC All-Conference honors four times, was a first-team selection in 1993, 1995, and 1996, and a second-team pick in 1994. In 1995, she was named a Second Team All-American, becoming the first goalie in the program's history to receive this distinction. In that same season, she was named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team. During her tenure, the Monarchs won two conference titles and participated in three NCAA Tournaments, including 1995 when they reached the National Championship game. As one of the most accomplished players in program history, she holds several records: career wins (53), goals against average (.66), save percentage (.870), and shutouts (41). She also set single-season records in wins (18) and save percentage (.922), while tying the mark for most shutouts (15).
Percherke was part of the Methodist men's golf team from 1987 to 1990. He contributed to the program's first national championship win and had a standout 1990 season, securing two tournament victories, including at the DIAC men's golf championships. Additionally, he earned Third Team All-American and All-American Scholar honors after the season.
Smith competed for the Methodist women's golf team all four years, from 1996 to 2000, leading the Monarchs to three consecutive national championships in 1998, 1999, and 2000. During her final season, Smith was crowned the individual national champion herself. A two-time First Team All-American in 1998 and 2000, she also received the National Golf Coaches Association Division III Player of the Year award in 2000.
Webster was one of the top offensive linemen to wear a Methodist football jersey, playing from 1994 to 1997. He is the only offensive lineman in the program's history to be named an All-American, earning first-team honors in 1997 after not allowing a sack all season. Webster also received All-Region recognition and was chosen as a team captain in his senior year. The 1997 team he was a part of is still the best team to have played at MU, going a program-best 9–1 and nationally ranked 20th.
Williams was a four-year starter on the Methodist women's basketball team from 1996 to 2000. She was a two-time DIAC All-Conference selection, earning second-team honors as a junior and first-team as a senior. During her tenure, she helped the Monarchs win two conference regular-season titles. The versatile guard led the team in steals for all four years, with a total of 257 thefts—second-most in program history—and remains among the top ten in several categories: points (1,207, 3rd), field goals made (495, T-2nd), three-point field goals made (120, 5th), and assists (277, 10th).
Including the Class of 2025, the Hall of Fame consists of 120 members. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 7, at 6:30 PM on the campus of Methodist University as part of Homecoming weekend.
