HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. The seventh-ranked Methodist University men's golf team opened play at the 2025 NCAA Division III Fall Preview on Sunday with a good showing, carding a team score of 286 (+2) to sit in a tie for fifth after the first of three rounds at Mission Inn Resort.

OPENING ROUND
- Senior Haden Ruby led the Monarchs with a one-under 70, tying for 12th individually. Ruby was steady throughout the day, picking up two birdies on the front nine before briefly slipping back to even par, but he closed strong his day with a late birdie to finish under par.
- The trio of Beau Brewer, Jack Haeflinger, and Jonny Lewis each turned in rounds of 72 (+1), tying them for 26th. Brewer started hot with two early birdies and added two more on the back nine to steady his round.
- Haeflinger, a freshman, played a composed round highlighted by 13 pars and two birdies. Lewis took a more adventurous route, recording four birdies but offsetting them with several bogeys.
- Making his varsity debut after winning the season's first B-side event, sophomore Aiden McCall shot a 78 (+7) to tie for 89th. He finished with nine pars and two birdies
