FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist University women's soccer team returned to Duggins Soccer Stadium on Saturday morning, hosting Mary Baldwin University in a USA South matchup. The Monarchs struck first, but the Fighting Squirrels responded with three second-half goals to claim a 3–1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Addisyn Allen nearly scored her first collegiate goal in the seventh minute. Taking a free kick from 35 yards out, Allen sent a shot toward the net, but the attempt struck the right post.
- The Monarchs found the breakthrough two minutes later when a foul in the box awarded Methodist a penalty kick. Junior Alexa Armour stepped up and sent the ball past the goalkeeper to the left, giving Methodist a 1–0 lead.
- Before halftime, graduate student Summer Ward and sophomore Kat Cardiff each put a shot on target, but both attempts were stopped by the Mary Baldwin goalkeeper.
- The Monarchs continued to look for a second goal after the break, with Armour and freshman Sydney Campbell each recording a shot on target, but neither attempt found the back of the net.
- Mary Baldwin eventually equalized in the 66th minute. Rory Patchett played the ball to Addison Hannigan, who finished into the lower-right corner to level the match at 1–1.
- Cardiff and senior Emily Hoyt each had opportunities to restore the Methodist lead, but the Fighting Squirrels' goalkeeper turned away both attempts.
- Mary Baldwin took its first lead in the 80th minute when Joelle Hare feed the ball to Hannigan, who scored her second goal of the match, putting the Fighting Squirrels ahead 2–1. Hare added an insurance goal in the 84th minute, finishing a pass from Molly Ludwig to secure the 3–1 victory.
