No. 5 Methodist Finishes Fourth at Gate City Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C.  The No. 5-ranked Methodist men's golf team wrapped up play at the Gate City Invitational on Tuesday, posting its best round of the tournament with a two-over-par 290 at Forest Oaks Country Club. The Monarchs finished fourth overall with a three-round score of 873 (+9).

FINAL ROUND
  • Senior Todd Moyer led the way for Methodist in the final round, carding a three-under-par 69 behind four birdies. Moyer climbed 14 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for fifth with a three-round total of 214 (-2).
  • Freshman Griffin Lawlor closed out his first collegiate tournament with an even-par 72. After making two birdies in the final round, Lawlor finished tied for 11th with a score of 215 (-1), narrowly missing a top-10 finish.
  • Junior William Plageman matched Moyer's three-under-par 69, also making four birdies during his final trip around Forest Oaks. His strong finish moved him up 28 spots, placing him tied for 32nd with a tournament total of 222 (+6).
  • Sophomores Tyson Laviano and Jack Haeflinger rounded out the Methodist lineup. Laviano finished tied for 61st with a three-round score of 229 (+13) after carding an eight-over-par 80 in the final round.
  • Haeflinger posted an 11-over-par 81 with two birdies on Tuesday and finished tied for 51st with a tournament total of 227 (+11).
