No. 5 Methodist Sits Seventh After Opening Two Rounds of NCAA Fall Preview

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.  The No. 5-ranked Methodist men's golf team opened play at the 2026 NCAA Division III Fall Preview on Monday at Kingsmill Resort, site of the 2027 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. The Monarchs carded a one-under-par 283 in the opening round before posting a two-over-par 286 in the second, finishing the day in seventh place with a two-round total of 569 (+1).

OPENING ROUNDS
  • Senior Todd Moyer led the Monarchs through the opening two rounds, carding a five-under-par 137 to sit tied for ninth overall. Moyer opened with a one-over-par 72, making four birdies, before catching fire in the second round. He recorded eight birdies on his way to a six-under-par 65, which was tied for the best individual round of the second 18 holes.
  • Freshman Griffin Lawlor continued his strong start to his collegiate career after making his debut last week. Lawlor opened Monday with an even-par 71, highlighted by three birdies, before carding a three-over-par 74 in the second round. He finished the day tied for 50th with a two-round total of 145 (+3).
  • Freshmen Cooper Reitsma and Harry Garland made their collegiate debuts Monday. Reitsma opened with a one-under-par 70 after recording three birdies and an eagle. He followed with a five-over-par 76 in the second round, finishing tied for 56th with a total of 146 (+4).
  • Garland also posted a one-under-par 70 in the opening round, making five birdies. After adding more birdies early in the second round, he struggled down the stretch and finished with a six-over-par 77. Garland enters the final round tied for 59th with a score of 147 (+5).
  • Junior William Plageman also sits tied for 59th at 147 (+5). After carding a five-over-par 76 in the first round, Plageman bounced back with an even-par 71 in the second. He made six birdies throughout the day, including five during his second trip around Kingsmill.
