No. 5 Men’s Golf Wraps Up NCAA Preview In T-7th Position

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –  The No. 5 Methodist University men's golf team received a glance at the site of the 2027 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship on Monday through Tuesday afternoon at Kingsmill Resort on the River Course, concluding the NCAA Preview in tied for seventh out of 18 teams with a round three tally of (292, +8) to total a (283-286-292-861, +9) as a squad.

FINAL ROUND
  • Senior Todd Moyer moved up four spots on the leaderboard, tallying a 71 (E) in the final-18 with six birdies on the day, five being on the front nine, to total a 208 (-5) overall to tie for fifth place.
  • Junior William Plageman completed a massive comeback on day two of the NCAA Preview, collecting four birdies, two on each side to total the Monarchs second 71 (E) on the day. Plageman would complete the tournament with a 218 (+5) individually, launching 19 spots into T-40th in the standings.
  • Freshman Griffin Lawlor snagged a pair of birdies in the closing round on the par-5 third and the par-4 twelfth, firing a 74 (+3) on the day to tabulate a 219 (+6), ranking out in T-45th, respectively.
  • Freshman Cooper Reitsma made his collegiate debut this week at the NCAA Preview, becoming the final finisher in the closing day of action for No. 5 Methodist, recording a birdie on the par-3 thirteenth. Reitsma fired a 76 (+5) in the afternoon to collect an individual score of 222 (+9), ranking out in T-54th.
  • Freshman Harry Garland, also made his collegiate debut for the Monarchs this week, not counting with the team score while marking out an 80 (+9) in the final round to close the NCAA Preview individually with a 227 (+14) for T-71st place.
UP NEXT
The Monarchs return to action Monday, October 12th through Tuesday, October 13th at the Tartan Invitational hosted by No. 3 nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon University at Laurel Valley Country Club in Ligonier, Pa. Tee times for the first two rounds are to be announced.
