Philip Betterly begins his first season as an Assistant Coach with the Monarchs. His duties include working with catchers and hitters. He also serves as the first base coach for the varsity team and third base coach for the developmental team. In addition to those duties, Betterly is involved in the recruitment of student-athletes to Methodist University.
A native of Bristow, Va., Betterly was a three-year letter winner for the Monarchs as a catcher, outfielder, and designated hitter. He holds a .322 career batting average. His resume includes working numerous college baseball camps, showcases, and clinics throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. During the summer of 2009, he was the Head Coach for Brentsville District High School summer team, in Nokesville, Va. Betterly will be coaching for the New Market Rebels in the Valley Baseball League this summer.
Betterly graduated from Methodist in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in physical education.
