2022: Earned USA South Player of the Week ( 3/07/22) … selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III third-team Region 6 All-Region team … started all 42 games (one of three Monarchs to do so) as a graduate student for MU … led the team with a batting average of .397 and an OBP of .480 … finished seventh overall in USA South for batting average … had a slugging percentage of .503 and an OPS of .983, … totaled 60 hits, 27 runs scored, 34 RBIs, 17 walks and five stolen bases … also recorded 13 doubles and a home run, which was sent out at home against William Peace … 19 multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 game against Susquehanna … 19 games with at least one run scored … 10 games with multiple RBIs including a season-high three in two different games … totaled 78 putouts, two assists and two errors for a fielding percentage of .976.

Prior to MU: Played four years on the baseball team at William Peace University… awarded the newcomer of the year nominee in 2018.

High School: Earned Mid-South all-conference honorable mention in 2016 and first team all-conference honors in 2017 for baseball.

Personal: Son of Melanie and Frank Wheeler… cousin, Andy Sawyer attended MU from 2008-2012, cousin, Haydan Sawyer, played basketball at Division III Pfeiffer University during the 2018-19 season and cousin, Zack Oakley played football for four years at Division I Central Michigan… Gavin is completing his Masters in business administration.
