Zach Gordon

Zach Gordon arrived at Methodist in 2017 to coach the wide receivers and coordinate special teams. He comes inĀ coaching multiple all-conference performers at both the Division II and III levels. Since his arrival, Gordon has coached fourĀ wide receivers and two from special teams to all-conference selections.

During theĀ 2021 spring season, he coached theĀ Monarch receivers toĀ atop the USA South in multiple receiving categories. Highlighting the group was sophomore Jamaar Moore, a first team all-conference select, who led the conferenceĀ in receptions, yards andĀ touchdowns.Ā Gordon also oversaw first team all-conference selection, as a returner, Kobe Praylow. Praylow'sĀ 859 all-purpose yards, in four games, was the most by any player in all of DIII football.Ā 

In 2019, Gordon oversaw Xzavier McNeil, who broke the program's single-season receptions record with 70. His 14 catches against Brevard set a new single-game mark.Ā McNeil's 801 receiving yards was second, in the conference, which led to a second team all-conference selection. Gordon also oversaw Moore, aĀ freshman at the time, who rankedĀ thirdĀ in receptions (47) and sixth in yards (539), in the conference. On the special teams side, Kobe PraylowĀ made the all-conference team as a returner and Bobby Haggerty as a punter.

Prior to joining the Monarch coaching staff, Gordon served as the running backs and tight ends coach at NCAA Division II Seton Hill (Pa.) University for the 2016 season. While with the Griffins, he assisted in coaching the top passing offense in the nation and guided the program to its first 1,000-yard runner in recent team history.

Gordon got his coaching career started at Bethany (W.Va) College, his alma mater,Ā where he served as a graduate assistant in charge of defensive backs then tight ends his final year.

Prior to coaching, he played for the Bison for four seasons as a three-year letter winner at receiver. Gordon was part of a receiving core that broke multiple passing and receiving records.

Gordon and his wife Taylor have two children, JaxsonĀ &Ā Maeve, and are currently living inĀ Angier, N.C.Ā
