Jason Johnson enters his fifth season as Methodist’s assistant coach for men’s basketball. Since August 2009, his responsibilities have come to include evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, breaking down game film and coordinating the program’s junior varsity schedule.

In his first full year as recruiting coordinator during 2012-13, Johnson assembled a seven-man class of newcomers that would include two Conference Rookie of the Week winners over the course of that season. Along with his work at Methodist, he has assisted at several camps, including the University of Rio Grand (Hard Work Camp), Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp and Maximum Exposure clinics.

Prior to joining the Methodist staff, Johnson served as an assistant boys basketball coach and head junior varsity football coach at Hoke County High School and later filled the role of the head baseball coach at West Hoke Middle School.

A December 2005 graduate of Fayetteville State University, Johnson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in political science.
