Coach Smith was hired as the assistant men's basketball coach in August of 2022. Prior to joining the Monarch coaching staff, he was the head coach of the boy's varsity basketball team at Berean Baptist Academy from 2017-2022.
During his tenure at Berean, Smith coached the Bulldogs to a 2021 North Carolina Christian School Association 2A State Championship and his 2018 team was the runner-up of North Carolina Christian School Association 2A State Champion. For both of these seasons, he was bestowed coach of the year honors.Â
Before becoming a coach, Smith played two seasons of semi-professional basketball in the Premier Basketball League in Illinois as a member Lake County Stars. This was following his four year career as a Trojan at Trinity International University. He averaged 10 points and 4 assists for his career.Â
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Smith graduated from TIU in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is currently pursuing his master's in business administration from Western Governors University.
