Brion Kelly made the transition from the field to the sidelines in the spring of 2011 after finishing his career on the men's soccer team.  In his first season as head coach Justin Terranova’s assistant, Kelly helped in coaching the Monarchs to an 11-4-2 record as well as a NSCAA No. 8 regional ranking.

Last season, the Monarchs captured their first USA South Conference Tournament championship and advanced to NCAA Regionals, finishing the season with a record of 15-3-3.

Kelly assists in daily operations including recruiting, player management and practice planning. He also helps conduct training sessions and extra sessions developed around set plays.  As a former player for the Monarchs Kelly was a three-time All-Conference selection and a two-time team captain as a center back.

Prior to Kelly’s playing career at Methodist University he served in the US Army for eight years.  During his service he completed combat tours to Afghanistan (2004-05) and Iraq (2007-08).

A former member of the defending National Champions Virginia State ODP team (1999-2000), Kelly has also competed with the USL’s PDL Fredericksburg Gunners, PASL Richmond United, IPL Fredericksburg Generals, and USL Pro Northern Virginia Royals.
