Bacalao joined the Monarch coaching staff before the 2024-25 academic year. Originally from Venezuela, has been in Fayetteville since graduating from St. Andrews University, as he was the goalkeeper coach for the Fayetteville Fury.
During his collegiate career, Bacalao played at both SAU, during his junior & senior years, and at Southwestern Christian University, freshman & sophomore. While at SCU, his 2021 team was crowned the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season champions and that team would go on to become the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I Regional champions.
Back in his home country, Bacalao was a member of a local soccer club that won six championships in the Carabobo State League. He was also named the MVP Goalkeeper of the league five times.
