Alicia Barto joined the Methodist Women’s Tennis coaching staff, as an assistant, in September 2021. In the summer of 2023, she was promoted to Head Coach of the Women's Tennis program.

As a junior player she had immense success playing ITF and WTA professional tournaments. Barto was ranked in the top 10 players in South America ranked among the top 500 players in the ITF world junior rankings. She earned two points on the WTA professional tour, one for singles and one for doubles.

At the college level she played for both Lindsey Wilson College (NAIA) and Troy University (NCAA D1). She was ranked as high as #3 nationally for singles and #2 doubles in the NAIA at Lindey Wilson in her two years there before moving to Troy University where her team reached the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
