Jay Goldsmith

Jay Goldsmith is in his first season as an assistant with the Monarchs. 

A 2015 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University with a degree in health and physical education, Goldsmith was a two-year starter for the Bears after transferring from Lynchburg College. While at L-R, Goldsmith appeared in 30 games and racked up 88 points on 68 goals and 20 assists. He added 52 ground balls, including 37 in his senior season. Goldsmith was a second team all-conference selection in 2014, and an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2015. He graduated holding the school's single-game goal record with seven.

Prior to playing at Lenoir-Rhyne, Goldsmith played two seasons for NCAA Division III power Lynchburg College. As a Hornet, Goldsmith saw action in 29 games and scored 15 goals with 10 assists and 20 ground balls. 

Upon graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne, Goldsmith served as the head lacrosse coach at Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, N.C. His club coaching experience includes stints with the Old North Lacrosse Club in Greensboro, N.C., where he has been the head coach of the U11 and U19 travel teams since 2011, and an assistant coach with the U15 team. 

Following the conclusion of his amateur career, Goldsmith was drafted by the Charlotte Hounds of the MLL.
