Methodist Volleyball Drops Two

DANVILLE, Va. - The Methodist volleyball dropped two USA South matches on Saturday.  The Monarchs fell 0-3 to Shenandoah (17-25, 15-25, 21-25) and 0-3 to Averett (28-30, 17-25, 16-25).

The Monarchs were playing with Shenandoah early in the first set, but the Hornets went on a late run to win 17-25.  In the second set, Methodist led 6-4, but Shenandoah came back with a 8-1 run to take the lead.  The Hornets went on to win 15-25.  Methodist had the advantage again in the third set, but Shenandoah won the match with a 21-25 third set.

Jalesty Washington led the team with 11 kills while Sara Yeatman and Allison Averitt had eight a piece.  Kelsey Yates had 30 assists and Jordan Grady had 13 digs.

Methodist came back to take on Averett but lost 0-3.  Methodist had a 24-22 lead in the first set, but Averett came back to win 28-30.  In the second set, Averett won 17-25 and went on to take the win with a 19-25 win in the third.  

Yeatman led the Monarchs with eight kills while Averitt had seven.  Yates had 26 assists and Grady had 22 digs.

The Monarchs will play N.C. Wesleyan Wednesday at 7 pm.
