ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Monarchs pushed the first set to 27-29 but lost in three straight 0-3 (27-29, 16-25, 22-25) at N.C. Wesleyan.
Methodist (15-14, 6-10) trailed early in the first set but came back nad tied the set at 24 on a kill from
Jalesty Washington. Methodist had set point on three different occasions, but the Bishops came back to win 27-29. Methodist led 10-7 early on back-to-back kills from Washington, but N.C. Wesleyan put together a rally to win 25-16. Methodist was down 11-14 and came back to tie the third set at 17. The Bishops took a 19-24 lead before the Monarchs scored three consecutive points to push it to 22-24. N.C. Wesleyan finished off with a kill to take the three set win.
Washington led the Methodist offense with 11 kills while
Sara Yeatman had eight kills.
Kelsey Yates had 27 assists and
Jordan Grady had 20 digs.
Allison Averitt had five kills with a solo block.
The Monarchs will travel to Peace on Saturday to finish out the regular season with Mary Baldwin and Peace.
