FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team lost by one goal in Saturday afternoon's game against visiting Meredith. With a final score of 2-1, the Monarchs fall to 13-5 overall and to 6-3 in the conference while the Angels improve to 11-6-1 overall and to 7-1-1 in the conference.
Meredith College opened up the scoring in the first half when Kristy Knight took a soft corner kick and passed the ball to Anna Buryk who crossed the ball to Alex Calvert for a header right past the Methodist goalkeeper.
To tie the game, junior
Ashley Kolano crossed the ball to the right post to score off a free kick. The game remained 1-1 until the Angels came out with a vengeance early in the second half. Anna Buryk crossed the ball to Maggie Hart who had a one touch goal, giving Meredith a 2-1 lead.
Methodist goalkeeper
Kasey Nichols had 8 saves for the Monarchs and Sarah Chadwick also had 8 saves for Meredith.
