EMORY, Va. - The Methodist women's basketball team led 42-31 late in the first half, but Emory & Henry had a strong second half to knock off the Monarchs 71-69.
Methodist (0-1) started off strong shooting 48.6% from the field in the first half and led 44-37 at halftime. Emory & Henry came back out in the second half and shot 60% while the Monarchs struggled at only 26.7%.

Dezzire Gilliard led the team with 22 points and 11 rebounds boosted by 10-for-12 shooting from the free throw line. Sophomore
Adriana Wilson was also in double figures with 15 points.
Methodist will take on Piedmont Saturday at 1 pm in the second day of the Emory & Henry Tip-Off Classic.
