The score was tied at four in the first set before Greensboro went on a 1-8 run to lead 5-12.  Methodist closed the gap to 8-13, but could never recover as the Pride won 16-25.  In the second set, Greensboro led 9-16, but the Monarchs picked up two kills from freshman Jalesty Washington and a service ace from junior Taylor Cates.  Greensboro finished the set on two kills from Kacie Hyatt to win the set 18-25.

Greensboro tried to finish the match in the third set and took an early 3-0 lead, but Methodist came right back and tied it at three.  The score was tied at 12 after an ace from junior Allison Averitt.  On the next play, Averitt followed up with a diving dig to keep the ball alive allowing senior Sara Yeatman to get the kill giving Methodist the 13-12 lead and forcing Greensboro to call a timeout.  Methodist led 19-15 before the Pride came back to tie the set at 19.  The Monarchs finished up on consecutive kills from Washington to win 25-21 and send the match to the fourth set.

The Pride had a quick start in the fourth set but the score was tied at six.  Greensboro had a couple of big runs and finished with the 17-25 win.

Washington led the Monarchs with 15 kills while Yeatman had 13 kills and 13 digs.  Freshman Kelsey Yates had 35 assists and junior Jordan Grady added nine digs.

The Monarchs finish the 2008 season with a 17-15 record, their best since 2005.  Greensboro advances to the USA South Tournament semifinals at Christopher Newport on Friday.
