FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's basketball team took an early lead and never let up as they cruised to a 62-39 victory over Mary Baldwin Saturday afternoon.
The Monarchs (8-5, 3-3) jumped out to an early 11-2 lead after a layup from sophomore
Dawn Sanderson. Sanderson dominated the paint in the first half and gave Methodist a 17 point lead with 8:41 to go in the half. Mary Baldwin (3-12, 1-8) trailed 31-16 at halftime.
Methodist kept up the pressure in the second half backed by 16 points from junior
Michaela Myers. The Monarchs had multiple players contribute as they went on to win 62-39.
Myers led the team with 23 points while Sanderson finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Senior
Zan Messer led the team in rebounds with seven.
The Monarcsh will travel to N.C. Wesleyan on Tuesday for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
