NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Methodist University and Christopher Newport University women's soccer teams battled for 110 minutes Saturday afternoon, but the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Methodist (7-5-1, 3-1-1) traveled to Newport News and gave the Captains (4-6-2, 2-0-1) a run, but neither team could find the back of the net. Christopher Newport out shot the Monarchs 9-3 in the first half, but Methodist settled in and had three more shot opportunities in the second half.

Methodist's sophomore goalkeeper Sara Altman earned the start and made 13 saves for the shutout. Dineen Sampson had three stops for the Captains.

The Monarchs will play at N.C. Wesleyan tomorrow at 1 pm.
