MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Methodist women's basketball team used a 13-0 run midway through the second half to take a one point lead, but Maryville battled back to earn the 66-54 win to open the 2009-10 season.
The Scots held a three point lead at halftime before opening up the second half on a 14-5 run to jump ahead by 12 backed by four straight three-pointers from Maryville's Paige Sevier. The Monarchs responded with a 13-0 run of their own to move ahead, but Methodist missed seven of their next eight field goals for the Scots to go ahead for the 66-54 win.
Neither team took control during the first half with the score tied on eight different occasions. Maryville shot 46 percent during the first half before firing off 13-for-22 shooting in the second half for 59 percent from the field.

Michaela Myers added eight a piece.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Ashland, Va. for the Randolph-Macon Tip-Off Classic.
