FERRUM, Va. - The Methodist women's basketball team traveled to Ferrum College Tuesday evening looking to upset the sixth seeded Panthers, but fell 75-65 in the USA South Tournament Quarterfinal.

The first half was back and forth with neither team breaking away.  Ferrum (18-8) took the 21-14 lead midway through the half, but the Monarchs (15-11) came back with seven unanswered points to tie the game. There were seven ties throughout the first half  capped off with the 36-36 tie at the break.

Ferrum came out in the second half on a 15-2 run to take a commanding lead with 15:40 to go in the game. Methodist kept battling and fought back within five points on free throws from sophomore Adriana Wilson with 8:02 remaining. With 1:50 to go, the Monarchs trailed by three, but their next three shots came up empty as Ferrum shot 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the final minutes to take the 75-65 win.

Senior Dezzire Gilliard paced the Monarchs with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Wilson scored 14 and junior Michaela Myers added 11.

Methodist finishes their season at 15-11 while Ferrum advances to the tournament semifinals on Friday.
