SALISBURY, Md. - The Methodist women took on host Salisbury University in the first day of the SU Classic, but fell 4-0 to the Sea Gulls.
Salisbury (1-1) scored their first goal in the 22nd minute of play on a one versus one opportunity. The Monarchs (1-1) had three shots in the first half, but the Sea Gulls held on to the 1-0 lead at halftime.
Methodist had three corner kick opportunities early in the second half, but Salisbury scored again with a goal in the 61st minute off of a deflection in the box. Neither team managed another shot until Salisbury scored their third goal with less than 17 minutes to play. The Sea Gulls would score once more with their fourth goal in the 78th minute.
Methodist goalkeepers
Kasey Nichols and
Sara Altman combined for four saves a piece. Melissa Orgera had two stops for the Sea Gulls.
The Monarchs will look to regroup tomorrow in the second day of the SU Classic when they take on Capital University at 11 am.
