DANVILLE, Va. - The Averett University women's soccer team slipped by the Methodist Monarchs on Friday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout.
Methodist rattled off the first two shots of the game, but it was Averett who scored first in the 35th minute with a goal from Emma Brady.
The Monarchs kept battling, but the Cougars added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute from Pernilla Milton to secure the 2-0 win.
Averett out shot the Monarchs 22-10 in their bid for the win. Methodist's
Kasey Nichols made 11 saves in goal and Samanthan Lupo had three stops for Averett.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Ferrum for a 2 p.m. kick off.
