Monarchs Fall to Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Methodist volleyball battled back after dropping the first two sets to win the third before Greensboro won the match 1-3 (22-25, 26-28, 25-21, 14-25).

The first set was tied early at nine and 17 before the Pride went ahead 20-23. Methodist closed the gap at 21-23 and 22-24, but Greensboro finished with the 22-25 win. Both teams battled through the second set with Greensboro reaching set point on three different occasions before finishing with the 26-28 win.

Methodist jumped out to the 9-6 lead in the third set but the Pride tied it on five different occasions. Methodist went on a 6-2 run to finish with the 25-21 win capitalizing on a Greensboro attack error.

Greensboro built a seven point advantage early at 6-13 and cruised to the 14-25 win in the fourth set to earn the 1-3 victory.

Methodist's Jalesty Washington led the team with 14 kills while Hayley Williams added 11 and Lauren Bramble finished with 10. Kayci Miller dished out 39 assists and Hillary McPhatter paced the Monarchs with 27 digs.

The Monarchs will take the road this weekend for a series of non-conference matches.
