FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Greensboro College jumped out to the quick lead and finished with the 3-1 win to open USA South Athletic Conference play.
Methodist (4-4, 0-1) fell behind early in the first set and Greensboro (8-3, 1-0) took advantage of the Monarchs' miscues. The Pride finished on a 7-0 run to win 25-11. Methodist led 3-2 in the second set, but Greensboro battled back to earn the 25-18 win. The Monarchs bounced back in the third set to earn the 25-16 win, but it was all Greensboro in the fourth set as they earned the victory at 25-12.
Hillary McPhatter paced the Methodist offense with 11 kills while
Jalesty Washington added eight kills.
Stephanie Wood and
Lauren Bramble finished with six a piece.
Kayci Miller dished out 27 assists and nine digs and
Ryanne Greer added 11 digs.
The Monarchs will travel to Averett on Friday to take on the Cougars and the Shenandoah Hornets.
