RALEIGH, N.C. - The Methodist volleyball team fell to Meredith College in three sets on Wednesday night (19-25, 28-30, 20-25).
The first set was tied early at nine and 16 before Meredith pulled away late to take the 19-25 win. The Monarchs were trailing 17-20 in the second set before freshman
Lauren Bramble had back-to-back kills to help tie the set at 20. Methodist had set point on five different occasions, but Meredith responded and finished with the 28-30 win.
It was all Meredith early in the third set as they jumped out to the 6-12 lead. The Monarchs closed the gap to two points, before the Angels extended their lead again at 15-20. Methodist cut the lead to two again at 18-20, but Meredith won the match with a 20-25 victory in the third set.
Jalesty Washington led the team with 11 kills and 12 digs.
Stephanie Wood and
Hayley Williams added eight kills a piece.
Kayci Miller dished out 35 assists while
Ryanne Greer and
Hillary McPhatter added nine digs a piece.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday at Mary Baldwin when they take on the Squirrels as well as Peace College.
