GREENSBORO, N.C. - Methodist trimmed a 12-point deficit to three early in the second half, but nationally ranked, undefeated Greensboro used a 19-2 run to earn the 64-47 win.
The Pride opened up with a 10-2 lead but
Dawn Sanderson and
Emily Huneycutt scored to cut the lead to three. Greensboro went on to take the 23-13 advantage at the break.
Methodist came out firing in the second half with three 3-pointers in the first three and a half minutes to move within three points at 27-24. The Pride regained an 11 point lead, but the Monarchs responded with six straight points to trail 39-34. Greensboro went on a 19-2 run midway through the half to take control of the game before finishing with the 64-47 win.
Huneycutt and
T.T. Taylor led the team with nine points a piece while
Becca Himes paced the team with seven rebounds.
Danielle Duncan led Greensboro with 33 points.
Methodist will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Ferrum for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
