FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist University head football coach Dave Eavenson has announced the addition of Greg Harbaugh to the football staff.

"We are very excited to have Greg Harbaugh join the Monarch football family," Eavenson said. "Greg is bright, energetic and enthusiastic.  He has played and coached in our conference and will bring valuable experience to our program.  He is an outstanding recruiter and will relate well to our players.  He is a quality individual and we are looking forward to a successful future with Greg on board."

Harbaugh has played and coached in the USA South Athletic Conference after spending two seasons with the conference champion N.C. Wesleyan Bishops. Prior to joining the Wesleyan coaching staff, the Raleigh native enjoyed a four-year collegiate career at Averett University where he earned his bachelor of science degree in Sports Management in the spring of 2009.

"I am excited about joining the Methodist coaching staff after the feeling I got on my visit with Coach Eavenson and the rest of the staff during my interview," Harbaugh said. "The administration is very committed to winning based on the campus, football facility and weight room.  The feel of the students on campus creates a a great family environment that would make any Monarch football recruit feel at home.  I am excited to get to work and help our players have success in the classroom as well as the football field."

While suiting up for the Cougars, Harbaugh saw time on both sides of the ball during his freshman and sophomore campaigns, recording 11 tackles defensively and passing for three touchdowns offensively. After being sidelined by an injury as a junior, he enjoyed a solid senior season, averaging over 13 yards per catch at the wide receiver slot.

Harbaugh will take over as Cornerbacks Coach for the Methodist defense with the 2011 season set to kick off Sept. 3 at Randolph-Macon College.
