Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team battled for more than 105 minutes on Friday before Berry College slipped by the Monarchs 2-1.

Berry got on the scoreboard first after capitalizing on a misplay in the defense to score in the 26th minute. The Monarchs' Lisa Paschal looked like she had tied the game late in the half, but the officials called the goal back with a foul whistled in the 18-yard box. The Vikings dominated the first half with 12 shots to Methodist's 1, but the Monarchs battled back in the second half. Abbey Howe drove a ball into the box and Brooke Corley kept the play alive for Danielle Minichello to score the game-tying goal in the 76th minute. Methodist had a chance to go ahead with a breakaway in the 88th minute, but Paschal's shot missed just wide to the far post.

At the end of regulation, the two teams played the first overtime with Berry taking just one shot. The Vikings' snuck in the game-winner in the 106th minute after Leah Hatheway finished a cross from Keri McGinniss.

Sara Altman had seven saves for the Monarchs while Stephanie Breitenbach added a save off the line for the defense. Brooke Clement made two stops for Berry.

Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they host Sewanee at 5 p.m.
