Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Monarchs bounced back after two losses to take Averett 55-33 on Tuesday. The team avenged an earlier loss this season at Averett and came from behind to take out the Cougars.
Averett jumped out to the quick 11-2 lead, but Methodist came back with six straight points to trim the lead to three. Methodist's
Brianna Robinson tied the game at 18 with a jumper in the final five minutes and the Monarchs finished with the 21-18 halftime lead.
The Cougars trailed 25-24 with 13:39 left when Methodist went on a 14-1 run to lead 39-25 backed by consecutive 3-pointers from
Courtney Woods. The Monarchs kept up the pressure through the remainder of the game and
Chaunelle Yokley capped off the win with a layup in the final minute to give Methodist the 55-33 win.
Jordan Tyson led the team with 11 points while
T.T. Taylor had nine points and 10 rebounds. Woods also finished with nine points.
Mette Scheiman led Averett with 12 points while Liz Martin had nine points.
Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they host Shenandoah University at 2 p.m.
