RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Meredith College on Wednesday evening.
The Monarchs (12-8, 1-3 USA South) fell 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 25-14 to the Avenging Angels, who improved to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Junior
Risa Smith led MU with 14 kills, while seniors
Stephanie Wood and
Hayley Williams added seven kills apiece. Junior
Kendra Krupp directed the offense and registered 28 assists.
Freshman
Karly Klimas led the defense with 24 digs and also contributed three service aces. Smith added 10 digs and junior
Brittany McCoy and Wood totaled seven and five blocks, respectively.
Meredith was led by Emily Hendricks, who matched Smith with 14 kills. Molly Markley added nine kills and Cori Spade chipped in eight. Kara Baughman led the way with 28 assists and Ally White registered a team-high 17 digs.
Methodist is back on the court on Saturday as it hosts Piedmont at 12:00 pm followed by a match with Greensboro at 4:00 pm.
