FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Averett hit .347 as a team while limiting the Methodist volleyball team to a.076 hitting percentage in recording a 3-0 win over the Monarchs on Wednesday evening at the March F. Riddle Center.
The Monarchs fell to 15-10 overall and 4-5 in the USA South while the Cougars improved to 22-8 overall and 8-3 in the conference.
Allison Graves led Methodist with eight kills and
Risa Smith and
Stephanie Wood chipped in five apiece.
Kendra Krupp picked up 15 assists and
Hayley Williams and
Ryanne Greer had two service aces each.
Defensively, the Monarchs were led by
Karly Klimas, who tallied a team-high 10 digs. Smith added eight digs and
Ryanne Greer had seven digs.
Allison Sparks led the Cougars with 14 kills and hit an even .500 for the match. Savanna Butts and Sarah Sparks each had eight kills and Nicole Barringer totaled 33 assists. Brooke Hensley added three service aces and Sarah Sparks had two.
Allison Sparks and Hensley each had a match-high 13 digs, while Paige Aaron added 10.
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday in Staunton, Virginia where they will take on Maryville and Mary Baldwin beginning at 2:00 pm.
