Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team played its first home match of the 2012 season and came away with a 3-0 win over Peace on Thursday evening at the Riddle Center.
The Monarchs swept the Pacers, 27-25, 25-18, 25-23 to improve to 4-5 on the season, while Peace slipped to 4-6 with the loss.
Senior
Stephanie Wood and junior
Risa Smith led a balanced Monarch attack with eight kills apiece. Juniors
Brittany McCoy and
Allison Graves each netted seven and senior
Hayley Williams added six kills.
Freshman
Karly Klimas led the defense with 12 digs, while sophomore
Ryanne Greer, Graves and Smith all added eight digs. Wood added three service aces, including one to close out the first set, and junior
Kendra Krupp posted 28 assists.
Junior Lauren Naugle led the Pacers with 10 kills, while sophomore Megan Luffman and junior Crystal Alston each contributed six. Brooke Norris had 24 assists and Alston posted nine digs.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday when they take on Huntingdon and Salem in Winston-Salem. Methodist faces Huntingdon at 1:00 pm and will take on Salem at 3:00 pm.
