Monarchs Rally to Down N.C. Wesleyan, 3-2, in Volleyball

Junior Allison Graves netted a season-high 19 kills to lead MU

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Junior Allison Graves notched a season-best 19 kills and the Methodist volleyball team won its fourth consecutive match, outlasting N.C. Wesleyan, 3-2, on Tuesday evening.
 
Trailing two sets to one, the Monarchs (7-5,) rallied for the 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 15-9 win over the Battling Bishops, who slipped to 4-6 on the season.
 
In addition to Graves' 19 kills, junior Risa Smith added 13 and senior Stephanie Wood chipped in 10 to pace the offense. Graves also added 12 digs and Smith totaled 13. Freshman Karly Klimas led the defense with 25 digs, while sophomore Ryanne Greer totaled 11 and junior Kendra Krupp had 12 to go with her team-high 41 assists.
 
Wood added four total blocks on the evening and Graves rounded out a solid match with four service aces.
 
For the Bishops, Meredith Smith had 17 kills, while Kristi Lucas had 46 assists and 15 digs. Anna Hart had a team-high 19 digs and contributed nine kills.
 
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, when they take on Randolph at 2:00 pm in Lynchburg, Va.
