Jessie Oder's goal less than five minutes into the first overtime propelled the Methodist women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Greensboro on Sunday afternoon.
Oder broke a scoreless tie at the 94:58 mark, taking a pass from junior
Lisa Paschal and beating the Pride's Shireen Unvala to lift the Monarchs to 4-6-0 on the season and 2-1-0 in the USA South. Greensboro fell to 3-6-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the conference.
Methodist's goal came a man down as senior
Kristin Habig was sent off with a red card in the 75
th minute.
Oder's goal in overtime came at the end of what was an evenly played game. Greensboro held a slight edge in shots, 13-12, for the game and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Freshman
Taylor Ross played all 94:58 in goal for the Monarchs and made four saves to preserve the clean sheet. Unvala made five saves for the Pride.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday when they host Christopher Newport at 2:00 pm.
