Women's Basketball | 1/13/2013 4:10:00 PM

Box Score MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Maryville College hit 10 three pointers and held the Methodist women's basketball team to 37.0 percent shooting in posting a 70-45 win over the Monarchs on Sunday afternoon.

Aided by eight first-half three pointers, the Scots (12-1, 6-0 USA South) built a 44-22 lead by halftime en route to the win. With the game tied a 2-2 in the early going, MC hit three consecutive triples to take an 11-2 lead at the 15:48 mark.

Chandler Christensen's jump shot at 14:15 stopped the run, but a pair of layups followed by back-to-back threes allowed the Scots to assume a 21-6 lead with 11:57 to play in the first half as they remained unbeaten in conference play.

The Scots cooled off in the second half, hitting on only two more three pointers and only outscoring the Monarchs, 26-23, but the first-half barrage proved to be too much for MU.

For the game, Methodist was 17-of-46 from the field (.370) and 9-of-18 from the charity stripe. Maryville finished at an even 50.0 percent for the game (28-56), including 10-of-19 (.526) from beyond the arc. The Scots also held a 36-26 advantage on the boards and each team turned the ball over 21 times.
