Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team dropped a hard-fought contest, 3-2, to visiting William Peace on Tuesday evening in the Riddle Center.

The Monarchs (12-14, 7-7 USA South) dropped the first set, 25-19, before coming back to win the second set, 25-20, and even the match at 1-1. WPU (21-6, 10-4) held off Methodist, 25-23, in the third set and MU responded with a 25-19 win in the fourth set to send the match to a decisive fifth set. After Methodist won the first two points of the set, William Peace rattled off six straight points to take a 6-2 lead en route to a 15-8 win.

Allison Graves led the Monarchs with 16 kills and 15 digs, while
Emily Krochmal pitched in a double-double of 12 kills and 10 digs.
Brittany Lewis and
Risa Smith chipped in nine kills apiece. Smith added a team-high 19 assists and
Emily Hester contributed 15.

Deanna Brailsford posted a career-best six total blocks and
Latina Bailey added four blocks.

For the Pacers, Megan Mansfield posted 21 kills, Merica Ivey added 11 kills and Lauren Naugle chipped in nine. Liana Solomon registered 37 assists and, Mansfield and Maddie Irvin had 20 and 17 digs, respectively.

Methodist is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Maryville at 10:00 and Covenant at 4:00 pm.
