Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team stepped out of conference and split a pair of matches at Guilford on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs defeated Eastern Mennonite, 3-2, before falling to the host Quakers, 3-2.

Against EMU (8-11), Methodist (9-10) held off the Royals, 25-14, 15-25, 25-14, 24-26, 15-8 to run its season-high winning streak to five matches.

Allison Graves was one of three players to reach double-figures in kills, notching a match-high 19.
Emily Krochmal added 18 and
Risa Smith chipped in 11. Graves also registered 18 digs and was one of six players to record 10 or more digs in a balanced defensive effort. Krochmal (15),
Emily Hester (13),
Ryanne Greer (12), Smith (11) and
Karly Klimas (11) also reached double-digits.

Krochmal also added four service aces, and Hester and Smith contributed 24 and 23 assists, respectively.

Against the Quakers, the Monarchs dropped the first set, 25-21, before taking a 2-1 lead after winning the second (25-23) and third (25-13) sets. However, GC (10-10) rallied to win the fourth set, 25-21, before holding off MU, 15-10, to eke out the win.

Graves once again led the MU offense with 26 kills. Smith and Krochmal each totaled 14. Smith led the way with 28 assists and Hester added 27 helpers. Graves completed a double-double with 14 digs, while Smith added 13 and Krochmal and Greer contributed 12 and 10, respectively. Greer contributed five service aces.

Methodist's next match is slated for Tuesday at Averett beginning at 7:00 pm.
