Methodist Volleyball Earns a Split at Ferrum

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FERRUM, Va. – The Methodist volleyball team opened USA South play by splitting a pair of matches at Ferrum College on Saturday. The Monarchs defeated Ferrum, 3-1, before falling to Averett by a 3-1 score.
 
In the win over the Panthers, MU (4-8, 1-1 USA South) dropped the first set, 25-22, before winning the next three in succession, 25-19, 25-17, 25-11, to snap a four-match skid. Against Averett, MU dropped the first two sets, 25-22, 25-13, before capturing a 25-22 win in the third set. The Cougars closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.
 
Against Ferrum, Allison Graves notched 17 kills and 13 digs for a double-double. Brittany Lewis added 10 kills and six total blocks. Emily Krochmal and Latina Bailey had nine and eight kills, respectively. Krochmal also had four of the Monarchs' 13 service aces.
 
Risa Smith posted 39 assists and had three service aces. Karly Klimas had 10 digs and three service aces and Ryanne Greer recorded three aces as well.
 
Jordan Link had 14 kills for FC, and Rachel Stratton added 11 kills. Jessica Turner led the defense with 12 digs.
 
In the loss to Averett, Graves and Krochmal each posted 12 kills. Klimas led the defense with 17 digs, Krochmal added 13, and Graves and Smith chipped in with 12 and 11, respectively. Smith had 28 assists.
 
For the Cougars, Allison Sparks led the way with 18 kills and 15 digs. Katelyn Holly had 19 digs, and Nicole Barringer racked up 35 assists.
 
 The Monarchs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to William Peace for a 7:00 pm match.
