Cassidy Hayes recorded 16 kills with a hitting percentage of .464 in leading the Methodist volleyball team to a 3-0 win at Ferrum on Wednesday evening.
Methodist (12-12, 7-4 USA South) eked out a 25-23 win in the first set before pulling away for a 25-16 win in set two and a 2-0 lead. In the third set, MU never trailed in putting away the Panthers (3-18, 2-11 USA South) by a score of 25-21.
Hayes' 16 kills came on 28 attempts with just three hitting errors. She added nine digs and a pair of blocks.
Grace Crawford and
Taylar Stafford each had nine kills for the Monarchs and
Ryann Appleby chipped in seven in a balanced attack.
Maggie Harris directed the attack with 39 assists, and she totaled 12 digs as well.
Reagan Holloway totaled 11 digs, and Appleby contributed to the defense with three solo blocks.
Ashley Ammann led Ferrum with nine kills, and Jessie O'Conner added eight. Emily Danner posted a team-best 17 assists, and Sarah Hendrix had 12 digs.
Methodist is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Piedmont and Meredith beginning at 12:00 pm.
