ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Methodist volleyball team recorded a split of two matches at Marymount College on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs opened with a 3-1 win over Wesley before falling to Marymount, 3-0.

The Monarchs (10-9) survived a marathon match against Wesley (11-7), winning 26-24, 28-26, 23-25, 27-25. MU came up with a 10 service aces and 13 blocks in the match.
Cassidy Hayes led the Monarchs with 15 kills and added seven blocks and two service aces.
Grace Crawford had 10 kills, and
Ryann Appleby and
Breanna Graham each had eight kills.
Taylar Stafford and
Reagan Holloway each had three service aces and
Maggie Harris continued to handle the setting duties, racking up 46 assists.

Karly Klimas led the way with 19 digs, while Holloway and Harris had 12 and 10, respectively. Appleby had six blocks and
Chyenne Pump led the team with eight.

For Wesley, Tionne Graves-Brown had 15 kills to lead the team. Jessica Tynes added 11, and Kadijah Doughty and Codi Ziolkowski each had nine. Beth Schlecker had 26 assists, and Ziolkowski chipped in 17.

Defensively, Samantha Weber and Meghan Marshall each had 17 digs, while Charlotte Coyne had six total blocks.

In the nightcap, MU fell to the Saints (19-5) 25-19, 25-19, 25-12.

Hayes led MU with nine kills as Marymount limited the Monarchs to a .011 hitting percentage as a team. Crawford added six kills. Harris finished with 23 assists. Klimas had a team-high 10 digs, and Pump chipped in six.

Marymount hit .256 as a team and was led by Emileigh Rettig's nine kills. Cailyn Thomas had seven, and Hannah Steger, Erin Allison and Margaret McAlpin each had five kills. Ashley Cabrera had 15 assists, and Rebecca Bateman added 13.

Cassidie Watson had 10 digs, and Rettig added nine, while Thomas finished with five total blocks.

Methodist is back on the court on Tuesday when it hosts Averett at 7:00 pm.
