MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- The Methodist volleyball team saw its 2014 season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Covenant in the quarterfinal round of the USA South Tournament at Patrick Henry Community College.

The Monarchs wrap up their season with an overall record of 15-18 with the loss, while the Scots improve to 26-9 and advance to Saturday's semifinal round. Covenant prevailed 25-19, 25-18, 25-19. The Scots hit .280 as a team, including .394 in the first set, while MU hit just .122 as a team.

Cassidy Hayes led the Monarchs with 10 kills, and
Grace Crawford and
Ryann Appleby each had six kills.
Maggie Harris added 27 assists and a team-high nine digs.
Karly Klimas had eight digs and finished the year with 577, a new Methodist single-season record. She also had a pair of service aces.

For Covenant, Schuyler Moore and Ginny Moore each had 11 kills, and Schuyler added 18 assists as well. Chelsea VanDyk and Hannah Rogers each posted six kills, and Stephanie Kirkpatrick chipped in 18 assists.

On the defensive side, Ginny Moore had a team-high 14 digs, and Chloe Carlson added 11. Pretoria den Boer had three blocks.
